We’re excited to announce a significant update to the Rublon Admin Console: the Default Authentication Method policy. This innovative feature is set to replace the previous Auto Push policy, offering more flexibility and control to administrators.
Understanding the Default Authentication Method
The Default Authentication Method can be seen as an extension of the Auto Push policy. In the Auto Push policy, the default method was set to Mobile Push. Now, with the Default Authentication Method policy, administrators can select any available authentication method to be automatically selected after the user enters the correct login and password.
This means that the users will be automatically challenged for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with the authentication method chosen by the administrator. For example, users may see a window asking them to enter a Mobile Passcode (TOTP) generated by their authenticator app, such as Rublon Authenticator or Google Authenticator.

Benefits of the Default Authentication Method Policy
The Default Authentication Method policy brings several key benefits:
- Simplified User Experience: The Default Authentication Method policy eliminates the need for users to select an authentication method. This streamlines the login process, making it quicker, and more user-friendly, reducing the cognitive load on the user.
- Increased Control for Administrators: With the ability to choose the most suitable authentication method for their organization, administrators can enhance security without compromising on user experience. This increased control allows for a more tailored approach to security, meeting the unique needs of each organization.
- Flexibility: The Default Authentication Method policy supports all available authentication methods, providing flexibility to adapt to changing security needs. This means that as new authentication methods become available, or as the security landscape changes, your organization can easily adjust.
- Improved Security: By allowing administrators to set a default authentication method, the Default Authentication Method policy reduces the risk of user error during the authentication process. This can lead to a significant improvement in overall security.
- Efficiency: The automatic triggering of the selected authentication method can save users valuable time during the login process. This efficiency can lead to improved productivity across your organization.
