Import Users From a CSV File

June 10, 2022 By Rublon Authors

We are here with another Rublon Admin Console feature for you. As of now, you can import users from a CSV file. Administrators can go to the Users tab of the Rublon Admin Console and click the Import from CSV button. After selecting and importing the CSV file, Rublon will add the user information from the file to the Rublon Admin Console.

How to Import Users Into the Rublon Admin Console?

1. Prepare your CSV file for import

2. Import the file into the Users tab of the Rublon Admin Console

That’s it! Rublon will import your users from the CSV file to the Rublon Admin Console. It will add information such as username, the user’s full name, phone number, email address, and status.

Why Do I Need Bulk User Import?

By default, the Enrollment Type in the Settings tab of the Rublon Admin Console is set to Automatic. When Enrollment Type is set to Automatic, all users who attempt to log in to applications protected with Rublon are automatically added to the user list.

However, some organizations prefer to set the Enrollment Type to Manual. When Enrollment Type is set to Manual, users must be manually added to the user list by administrators. Login attempts from other users are denied or bypassed. Importing users from a CSV file saves time and hassle for administrators who no longer have to add all users by hand.

Further, regardless of the Enrollment Type, some applications and services such as Confluence allow you to export the user list to a CSV file. After integrating Rublon with the service, you can conveniently import the CSV file into the Rublon Admin Console. This ensures the user information in the Rublon Admin Console is consistent with the information in your integrated service. Also, importing users this way eliminates the need to manually fill in user information such as their email address, which makes enrollment more time-efficient.

Finally, the CSV import feature is a twin of the CSV export feature that has been available in the Rublon Admin Console for quite some time. Now that administrators can both import and export their users, they gain true control over their user list. This is especially crucial for organizations with hundreds or thousands of users.
