New customers and employees are sometimes curious why Rublon is called Rublon, what Rublon means, and what is the etymology of Rublon. Since these questions keep coming up, we decided to dispel all doubts. Here’s what Rublon means.
What is the meaning of the word Rublon?
Our name, Rublon, is a shortened form of Real User Business Logon:
- Real because when Rublon was brought to life back in 2011, most commercial products did not offer a real business feel of user logon.
- User because Rublon can protect the logons of all users within an organization using secure user authentication.
- Business because our solution is made primarily for businesses: companies and organizations from many industries and sectors.
- Logon because Rublon secures user logons. The word “logon” ends with “on” which denotes that after deploying Rublon, the company’s security is now “on”.
How did we come up with this name?
When we had to come up with a name for our product, we wanted the name to communicate the precise qualities that our product provides. We needed a name that clearly explains all our values. However, with the immense number of existing products and brands, it was difficult to find a one-word dictionary name that aptly described our mission and was still free to take.
We went quite a different route. We created a four-word name and then abbreviated it to form a new word: Rublon.
We make Rublon better each year
Rublon was the world’s first commercial passwordless login solution. But the world was not ready, and we had to pivot to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Eventually, we became an enterprise authentication solution that helps organizations protect their data by enabling employees and associates to securely access their networks, accounts, and applications using robust Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and Access Policies (Adaptive Authentication).
Last year was crucial for Rublon. We simplified the way users are identified in the Rublon Admin Console, made significant changes to our connectors, and implemented many much-desired new features.
In 2022, we plan to further improve our product by implementing new features suggested by our customers and adapting Rublon to be more convenient for large companies.
We are Rublon. Our customers come from 34 countries, almost half of them from the United States.
