EKO-Raszyn: Rublon Case Study

The Challenge

VPN Security

The company wanted to ensure that only authorized employees could access the corporate network. With the increasing number of Account Takeover (ATO) attacks, an additional layer of security was needed to lower the risk of an incident with minimal effort.

Convenience for Users and Administrators

EKO-Raszyn was seeking a solution that could be deployed immediately to protect its infrastructure with multi-factor authentication without disrupting daily operations. The solution had to be easy to use for administrators and provide a user-friendly login process for employees.

Increasing Security Requirements for Critical Infrastructure

As a water and sewerage company, EKO-Raszyn is subject to the guidelines of the NIS2 Directive. The escalation of cyberattacks on water companies and the announcement of the government’s “Cyber Secure Water Supply” program have underscored the need to implement MFA as a fundamental pillar of critical infrastructure protection.

The Solution

EKO-Raszyn deployed the Rublon MFA platform.

EKO-Raszyn chose Rublon because the solution met all the criteria: easy integration, fast configuration, and support for FortiClient VPN.

Integration With VPN

Rublon MFA has been integrated with the company’s enterprise-class VPN, allowing for an extra authentication step for users. When logging in to the VPN, the employee is asked to confirm their identity with an additional authentication factor other than a password. This can be, for example, the Mobile Push method available in the Rublon Authenticator app installed on a smartphone. Rublon MFA’s authentication methods are fast and convenient, while providing a high level of security. Rublon offers additional protection against unauthorized access without slowing down the user’s work.

Simple Administration, Minimal Maintenance

The entire system is managed from the browser-based Rublon Admin Console, which significantly reduces the administrative overhead. Thanks to automatic user enrollment in the platform and synchronization with user directories, administrators do not need to add user accounts manually, and configuration of MFA settings for groups and applications takes just a few minutes.

Meeting Security Standards

The implementation of MFA has enabled the company to implement its strategy for enhancing the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure, in line with industry best practices for the water and wastewater sector. In addition, the implementation of Rublon MFA allowed the company to achieve compliance with the requirements of Article 8 of Poland’s KSC Act for the use of strong, multi-factor authentication mechanisms.
