MFA für Remote Access Software

Zuletzt aktualisiert am 30. Juli 2024

Rublon Enables Two-Factor Authentication for Remote Access Software

In the last couple of years, employees have been remotely logging in to networks more often than ever. From home, or while traveling, they have been gaining remote access to data, information, and resources located inside their companies. Add to that those remote employees who always do and will work from home, and you are facing a couple of challenges. Accessing resources from outside is not a challenge per se, as you can find many VPNs and other software that will allow your employees to access data inside your company. The challenge, however, is ensuring high security of remote access. Since passwords are not secure enough to provide strong and reliable authentication for users, you need to introduce an additional layer of security to your users’ login experience. Passwords are based on what the user knows, but prove easy to steal, crack and guess, so you need a stronger factor of authentication. Stronger factors are based on what the user has or who the user is. Combine one of these two stronger factors with the traditional password and you get Two-Factor Authentication.

Rublon for VPNs

Rublon secures both SAML and RADIUS compatible VPNs by adding a strong second factor to the process of authentication. Rublon protects your logins to IPsec and SSL VPNs using a variety of authentication methods, including Mobile Push and WebAutn/U2F Security Key.

SAML Compatible VPNs

Rublon Access Gateway enables you to integrate your IPsec or SSL VPN appliances with Rublon using the SAML authentication protocol.

Rublon Access Gateway synchronizes your users from external identity providers such as FreeRADIUS, FreeIPA, OpenLDAP,  and Active Directory to ensure robust Multi-Factor Authentication for your users regardless of your authentication source.

Some of the most popular integrations include but are not limited to:

  • MFA for Citrix Gateway
  • MFA for Cisco AnyConnect VPN with ASA
  • MFA for OpenVPN Cloud
  • MFA for Pulse Connect Secure SSL VPN
  • MFA for SonicWall SMA

Rublon Access Gateway supports the following methods of authentication:

  • Mobile Push
  • WebAuthn/U2F Security Key
  • Mobile Passcode (TOTP)
  • SMS Passcode
  • Email Link
  • QR Code
  • YubiKey OTP Security Key
  • SMS Link

A broad selection of possible authentication methods gives both you and your users a choice in how users will be authenticated. Administrators can log in to the Rublon Admin Console and select which methods of authentication should be activated. When a user undergoes Multi-Factor Authentication, they can choose from methods activated by the administrator. Therefore, it is possible to deactivate some methods of authentication depending on your needs and requirements. In addition to that, you can assign different authentication methods to different applications thanks to the almighty Rublon Policies.
