Before you start
Ensure you have a properly configured MikroTik product.
Ensure that you have properly set up your authentication source, that is an external Identity Provider (IdP) like FreeRADIUS, FreeIPA, OpenLDAP, or Microsoft Active Directory.
Configuration of 2FA for MikroTik
Rublon MFA for MikroTik VPN
Read the documentation for Rublon 2FA for MikroTik VPN (L2TP with IPSec).
Rublon MFA for MikroTik Router Management Tools
Introduce Rublon 2FA to your MikroTik Router Management login. It does not matter if you are using Console, Webfig, or WinBox to log in to your MikroTik admin panel. Rublon 2FA supports all three of those. You have to install and configure Rublon Authentication Proxy before configuring Rublon 2FA for MikroTik Router Management Tools.
Known limitations:
- MikroTik does not support SAML and therefore it can be only used with the Rublon Authentication Proxy, which enables integrations via RADIUS.
- MikroTik only supports RADIUS as authentication source for your router management users.
The following document describes the configuration of MikroTik RouterOS. Rublon 2FA has been introduced to router management login.
