How SMS Link Elevates Your MFA
A Text Message Away from Secure Access
Forget the hassle of memorizing or entering passcodes. With SMS Link, a simple text message containing a unique link is all it takes to securely access your applications. Tap the link, confirm the sign-in, and you’re in—no extra steps required.
Verifying the Sign-In Attempt
There is an extra secure step for both the new SMS Link as well as the old Email Link authentication method. After opening the link, the user must confirm their sign-in attempt by clicking Sign in.
Separating Phone Numbers From Other Authenticators
The main change is that the phone number is no longer added along with the Rublon Authenticator mobile app, but separately via a new authenticator type called Phone Number (SMS). Thanks to this, you do not need to enroll the Rublon Authenticator mobile app to use the SMS Passcode and SMS Link authentication methods.
Utilizing SMS Credits
Similar to our SMS Passcode method, SMS Link uses Phone Credits to deliver secure links directly to your phone. This ensures a familiar and efficient experience for your existing users.
Setting Up Is a Breeze
Adding Your Phone Number
Users who already have a phone number added to their Rublon account can start using the SMS Link method right away, provided the organization has spare Phone Credits.
To get started with SMS Link, a new user needs to add their phone number to their Rublon account using one of these two convenient options:
- Self-Enrollment: Open the Manage Authenticators view from the Rublon Prompt and add your phone number.
- Admin Assistance: Request an administrator to add your phone number through the Admin Console.
After a phone number is registered, the SMS Link authentication method will become available as an authentication option in the Rublon Prompt.
