Rublon 2FA for Bugsnag

2FA/MFA for Bugsnag

Overview

The purpose of this document is to enable Rublon Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for users logging in to Bugsnag. In order to achieve that, you have to use Rublon Access Gateway. All required steps will be described in this document.

Before you start

You need to install and configure Rublon Access Gateway itself before configuring Bugsnag to work with it. Please read the Rublon Access Gateway documentation and follow the steps in Installation and Configuration sections. Afterwards, follow the Configuration section in this document.

Configuration

Follow these steps to enable Rublon 2FA in Bugsnag.

Bugsnag

1. Log in to Bugsnag as administrator.

2. Click the settings (cog) icon in the upper-right corner and select Organization settings.

3. Click Single sign-on in the Authentication section.

4. In SAML/IdP Metadata, select XML and then paste the entire contents of the metadata file from Rublon Access Gateway (Applications → Information for configuring applications with Rublon Access Gateway → DOWNLOAD METADATA).

5. Copy the value of SAML Endpoint URL. You are going to need this value later.

6. Click Download encryption certificate… to download the Bugsnag certificate. You are going to need this certificate later.

7. Click ENABLE SSO to add your SAML configuration and enable SSO in Bugsnag. You have to set up the application in Rublon Access Gateway now.

Rublon Access Gateway

1. In Rublon Access Gateway, go to Applications → Add application.

2. Fill in the form and click SAVE to add a new application. Refer to the following image and table.

Application nameEnter a name for the application, e.g. Bugsnag. The name will be displayed during Rublon 2FA.
Entity IDhttps://app.bugsnag.com
Assertion Consumer ServiceThe SAML Endpoint URL value you have copied before. SAML Endpoint URL has the following pattern:

https://app.bugsnag.com/user/sign_in/saml/example/acs

example is your organization ID.
Single Logout Servicehttps://app.bugsnag.com
NameID formaturn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress
NameID attributemail
Send AttributesNameID
Signature algorithmsha-256
Validate Authn RequestUncheck.
Sign responseCheck.
Certificate for signingSelect the certificate you have downloaded from Applications → Information for configuring applications with Rublon Access Gateway → DOWNLOAD CERTIFICATE.
Sign assertionCheck.
Certificate for encryptionUpload the certificate you have downloaded from Bugsnag.

Note: You have to change the extension of the certificate to CRT.

3. Your configuration is now complete. You can log in to Bugsnag with Rublon 2FA.

Log in to Bugsnag with Rublon 2FA

1. Go to https://app.bugsnag.com/user/sign_in/saml/example/. Replace example with your organization ID in Bugsnag.

Note

Alternatively, you can go to https://app.bugsnag.com/user/identity_provider, provide your organization ID and click Sign in using your identity provider.

2. You will be redirected to the Rublon Access Gateway login page.

3. Provide your username and password. Click SIGN IN. A window will appear with a selection of various 2FA options from Rublon. Let’s choose Mobile Push.

4. You will be sent a push notification. Tap APPROVE.

5. You will be successfully logged in to Bugsnag.

If you encounter any issues with your Rublon integration, please contact Rublon Support.
